Friends and Cupcakes

Tonight was a whirlwind experience in cupcake making! A good friend, Jeanine from http://icoulduseadeal.com/, and her husband, Jesse came to town.  And Jeanine informed me that she has been dreaming of cupcakes, so best could I fulfill her dreams...with fresh yummy cupcakes, of course.

So after work I stopped and picked up some cupcake wrappers and then home. And in a matter of a couple of hours, after a couple of text messages and phone calls inquiring about my progress...

Cherry Chip Cupcakes with Cherry/Cream Cheese filing and Cherry Icing.

and for breakfast...

Blueberry Muffins with cream cheese.

New Year's and Resolutions

It is that time of year, time for resolutions.

I am not very good at resolutions. I am always breaking them or forgetting about them all together.  Almost every year, I have a resolution to lose weight.

Well this year is going to be a little different... I am making a resolution to think about the food that I am putting in my mouth and not just randomly shove food into my pie hole.

Also in the new year I plan to make more cakes, cupcakes and goodies and be better about blogging.

So with that I bid you and yours a Very Happy and Blessed 2011!!

One Last Christmas Post...

My Nana past away more than 15 years ago and she left several precious handwritten recipes for some our favorite treats. This Christmas I decided to make two of her recipes, Kiflins and German Chocolate Cake.

The kiflins were easy. Flour, sugar, butter, vanilla and chopped pecans. Mix, form and bake for an unspecified amount of time and then cover in powered sugar.  They went so fast I did not get a chance to take a picture of them.

Now the German Chocolate cake had a couple more steps from baking 3 layers of cake and cooking the icing/filing.

I had to put my own little twist on top, handmade poinsettias and roses.

Although I love chocolate and cake, I was being good and did not eat any of this yummy creation, but many family members did and went back for seconds
